The Borghese family name is as eternal as the city of
Rome. Princess Marcella, a member of the royal
family, was hailed as a style icon and entrepreneur,
and shared her passion for beauty through the
creation of the Borghese brand.
Inspired by Italian spa culture, she decided to create a way
for consumers to bring the selflessly indulgent treatments
home. She launched her comprehensive line of skincare
and cosmetic products in 1957, making the Roman
experience of self-care accessible to all.
“If you are going to do something about beauty caredo it very, very well.”- Princess Marcella Borghese ad 1977.
Princess Marcella wanted to create a line of lipsticks in a
wider variety of shades than what was available at the
time, and once Pope Pius XII gave the cosmetics his
blessing, she pushed forward with the idea
She collaborated with a her long time friend, Charles
Revson, to create her cosmetics line. One of her first
collections included brightly colored lipsticks and nail
colors to match the vivid colors of her fashion designer
friend, Emilio Pucci’s knitwear.

SELF-CARE ISN'T A LUXURY IN ITALIAN CULTURE, IT'S A NECESSITY.
Indulgence nourishes the soul + spirit, and radiates from within. So reach for that second glass of wine, buy the shoes, splurge on the pricey workout class and above all, unplug daily to quiet your mind and love your skin.
